Below are some of my recommendations for books that feature beautifully produced CDs.
Giants, Ghosts and Goblins is a collection of 9 stories from all over the world. Scary but not too scary, this set is good for kids age 5 - 12. On Sale for $14.99.
Another giggly, creepy collection. My kids love this one. Narrated by the superb Hugh Lupton this collection is also $14.99.
A terrific companion would be our family's beloved Tales of Wisdom and Wonder.
Also narrated by Hugh Lupton this paperback book and CD collection includes 3 of our all-time favorite stories: Monkey and Papa God, The Pedlar of Swaltham and the hilarious Fish in the Forest. The collection is an amazing value at just $6.99. I guess I would say for kids age 5 -12 but I love these stories. Gather your kids and click here to listen to Fish in The Forest. It has a hilarious ending, you will love it.
The Barefoot Book of Knights features a double CD collection and stories which emphasize bravery, cooperation, humor and a sense of self. The hardcover collection with CDs is $14.99. This one makes a great gift for a boy's birthday. Recommended for ages 8-12.
Another collection with an old-fashioned, magical flair is The Barefoot Book of Faeries.
Hardcover with CD is $12.99 this one is good for kids 5-11 or so.
Fabrics of Fairytale is also a good value; a double CD set and paperback for just $8.99. These stories, from all around the world, each feature some kind of fabric - a rug that leads to the rescue of a prince, a magical skin that completes a hero's task. It's a great collection that we have listened to many times.
There are several other titles on sale, including books for babies and toddlers, books for kids age 3-4, age 5-7 and beyond. Barefoot also has a terrific collection of books in Spanish and many of these are on sale as well -
Story and CD $7.99.
Whether you are planning a trip or enjoying a cozy "staycation", I hope you will make reading with your children a part of your summer memories.
